Rebekah Gee, MD, MPH is the Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health. She most recently served as the Medicaid Medical Director for Louisiana and as an Associate Professor of Health Policy and Management and Obstetrics and Gynecology at Louisiana State University (LSU). Dr. Gee completed a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars program at the University of Pennsylvania and there received a Master of Science in Health Policy Research. She studied history and obtained an M.P.H. at Columbia University in Health Policy and Management, obtained her medical degree at Cornell, and trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Harvard at the Brigham and Women’s and Massachusetts General Hospitals.
Dr. Gee has served at both state and national leadership roles in public health policy. She has advised the public health departments of several states including Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Massachusetts. Notably, as the director for the Birth Outcomes Initiative for the state of Louisiana, she led the charge to end elective deliveries before 39 weeks –an effort that led to an 85% drop statewide. She has served as chair or co-chair of several national committees on maternity quality and prematurity reduction for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (HRSA) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). Dr. Gee is the health policy resident expert for the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology and serves on the editorial board. Dr. Gee is on the Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) Board of Health Care Services and is the inaugural recipient of a two year Gant fellowship at the IOM.
She is the recipient of the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs 2012 State Leadership in Maternal and Child Health award. In 2014, Dr. Gee received the Woman of the Year award from New Orleans City Business, was recognized as a “40 under 40” leader for New Orleans, a New Orleans “Healthcare Hero”, and received the American Medical Student Association “Women in Leadership” award. Dr. Gee is clinically active and is caring for patients at LSU. She lives in New Orleans with husband David Patrón, and is the mother of five energetic children.
Peter M. Neupert – Mr. Neupert is an Operating Partner of the Growth Buyout Fund and member of the Portfolio Services Group of Health Evolution Partners since January 26, 2012. Prior to that, Mr. Neupert served as the Corporate Vice President of the Health Solutions Group at Microsoft Corporation since 2005. He was responsible for driving the company’s strategy to improve healthcare around the world through software innovation. He led a global organization dedicated to developing, marketing, selling and supporting software solutions designed to improve healthcare delivery and to empower individuals to become more engaged and responsible for their own health and wellness.
In 1998 Mr. Neupert founded drugstore.com and served as the Chairman of the Board from 1999 to 2004, President and Chief Executive Officer from 1998 to 2001 and also served as its Chief Strategy Officer in 1998. He has been a Venture Partner of Maveron LLC and a Director of many private and public enterprises including Adaptive Biotechnologies Corporation, GlobalScholar, Inc., Freedom Innovations, Clinithink Ltd., Cranium, Shopping.com, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and of Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp).
In 2000, Mr. Neupert received an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for his work at Drugstore.com. Mr. Neupert holds a M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a B.A. from the Colorado College.
Alan Pitt MD – Dr. Pitt is the Chief Medical Officer of Avizia, Inc, a leading telemedicine company. He also serves as professor of Neuroradiology at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, one of the country’s premier centers of excellence for neuroscience. Dr. Pitt also served as the healthcare representative to the Digital Arizona Council and is an Adjunct Professor for the ASU College of Nursing and Health Innovation. He served on the advisor boards for Emerge.MD, DICOMGrid, Barco, Imaging Advantage and Excelsius Robotics.
Dr. Pitt holds degrees from Stanford University (B.A.) and the University of Arizona (M.D.) with post grad training in Internal Medicine, Neurology, Radiology, and Neuroradiology.
